WHO is the Church? A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship Part Two

Last time we were only able to complete the first half of the first point on knowing we are true disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to Nicodemus in John chapter 3: “You must be born again.” Unfortunately, many who consider themselves followers of Jesus have never been born again. The issue with a failure of the church in not fulfilling the great commission to make disciples is not so much with unwilling or stubborn sheep but goats who sincerely believe they are sheep. Where do we individually and as a church begin in order to fulfill a Great Commission Focus Fueled with a Great Commandment Passion? Are you a true disciple / follower of Jesus Christ and are you being obedient in “Making Disciples?” Listen for Life!

WHO is the Church? A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship

Jesus said to His disciples before He left for heaven, “I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” He also said, “Greater things you will do,” speaking of the church and individual Christ followers. Why do you think the church is failing in America? What did Jesus say, and what instructions did Jesus give to His church that we are or are not following? In this week’s fourth message on the series: What and WHO is the Church, Pastor Pete will speak on: “A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship” – (The Secret to Multiplication: Disciple – SHIFT). This material is taken in part from the book “Discipleshift” by: Putman, Harrington and Coleman, Zondervan Publishing Company, c. 2013. Our challenge is to be obedient to Christ’s command to “Go make disciples.” This is called the Great Commission. The Great Commandment is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. What is our collective challenge as a church? To prayerfully and obediently strive to be disciples and become disciple makers with a great commission focus fueled with a great commandment passion. Listen for LIFE!

WHO is the Church – A Spiritual Collective Courage Part Two

This week Pastor Pete concludes the second message on What and Who is the Church: “A Spiritual Collective Courage: (The Secret to Living in Courage).” As we see on the news and hear of hundreds and even thousands of Christian martyrs around the world we look on in admiration and possibly fear of what could be coming to us right here in America. Where does courage and confidence to live fearlessly for Christ come from? How do we individually and corporately determine to follow the LORD no matter the cost. Pastor Pete shares from the life and book of Joshua, chapter one, where we are reminded to be of good courage and to fear not. This message is of the utmost relevance for all believers today, whether we live in a Muslim war zone or in Kingman, Arizona. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord! – Joshua. WHO is the Church? – A Spiritual Collective Courage

Sometimes as believers, in the church of Jesus Christ, we feel like we are just spinning our wheels and getting nowhere fast. Why does it appear that some prosper in their faith and live joyful, victorious and productive lives and others just seem to flounder, languish and rot away on the vine? What is the secret to living in confidence as a believer in the church of Jesus Christ? What should be the new normal for every Christian believer in the church today? Pastor Pete will take a lesson from the life and book of Joshua to illustrate how God wants to work in every one of His disciples. A Spiritual Collective Courage is what is desperately needed in the church around the world. How do we get there individually and together as the body of Christ? Listen for LIFE!

WHO is the Church? – “A Plurality of Godly Men”

This week Pastor Pete begins a new series on What and WHO is the Church. In this attempt to define the church, as God created it, we begin at the beginning with man as God created him in His own image. The secret to growth and power in the church is a plurality of godly men who lead by following the Leader. This exhortation is taken from Paul’s letter to his son in the faith Timothy in the book of II Timothy. Here we are encouraged to Stir it Up: Be a Mirror, (1:1-12); Hold it Fast: Be a Guardian, (1:13-18); Stand Strong: Be a Leader, (2:1-3:9); Stay the Course: Be a Coach, (3:10-17); Fight the Fight: Be a Warrior, (4:1-8); and lastly, Leave a Legacy: Be a Builder, (4:9-22). The Gospel of Mark – The Current Ministry of Jesus Christ

Mark 16:9-20 is under attack today by Christians as well as unbelievers. In the last teaching message from the Gospel according to Mark, on Mark 16:15-20, we are reminded once again of the “Current Ministry of Jesus Christ” (The Continuing Story of the Christian Church) Pastor Pete unfolds Our collective Command in verses 15,16 to (Go, Preach and Believe); Our collective Confirmation in verses 17,18 to (Follow Boldly, Follow Fearlessly and to Follow Compassionately); and Our collective Confidence in verses 19,20 of (Christ Glorified, Christ Victorious, and Christ Enthroned). What a blessing this amazing book has been to my life personally (Pastor Pete) and to our church family. Since March of 2012 we’ve covered eighty-one messages from this diamond mine of glorious teaching from the life experiences of the Apostle Peter to us. May your life be enriched as well as you Listen for LIFE!

The Gospel of Mark – The Resurrection Appearances of Jesus Christ

Have you ever tried sharing a personal experience that few believed? Imagine how frustrating for those who witnessed and experienced the resurrection visitation of Jesus Christ and then when they tried to share their good news were soundly rejected and disbelieved? What is the gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ? What should we expect from both the church and unchurched when we share our experience with the resurrected LORD? Pastor Pete will be sharing from Mark 16:9-15 in this week’s sermon. Listen for Life!

The Gospel of Mark – “The Mark Dilemma”

Why do some Bible’s contain Mark 16:9-20 and others either leave it out completely or strongly suggest that it doesn’t belong in the “Earliest and BEST manuscripts.” Is this section of Scripture the true Word of God or an addition by unscrupulous translators? If it is an addition can we trust the rest of Scripture? There is a war raging in the heavenlies and here on planet earth as well to pervert, distort, call into question the integrity, authority, veracity and reliability of our Holy Scriptures. What do we believe about the truth of Scripture? Is it the very Words of God, God breathed, inspired and true from cover to cover? In this week’s message Pastor Pete will take the time to answer these questions in the “Mark Dilemma” (Is this the end to Mark’s Gospel?) Mark 16:9-20. Listen for LIFE!

The Gospel of Mark – The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

This week’s message will seek to put you into the scene and sandals of the women approaching the empty tomb of Jesus Christ. In Mark 16:1-8 we see the grief of the women as they approach the tomb and then the glory of the angelic announcement of His resurrection. Pastor Pete will pose a number of questions to the hearer of the seeming insurmountable stones and obstacles that tend to keep us from entering into the resurrection story of victory, praise and the glory of Christ. Often our attention is focused backwards, inwards, outwards but rarely upwards. What will it take for us to see and experience for ourselves the power and glory of the cross and the gospel message of the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Please listen for LIFE!
